Syston Fencing Company was commissioned by Leicester City Council to replace a large section of timber walkway at Watermead Country Park, 5 miles north of Leicester, a popular recreational destination for local residents.
The Country Park is nearly two miles long and comprises over 12 lakes and smaller ponds, wildflower meadows, woodland, grassland and reedbeds. Running through the park are the River Soar and Grand Union Canal which provide an essential corridor for wildlife. Care had to be taken to ensure the walkways, which also included a bridge over marshy ground, were in keeping with the beautiful, natural environment. We removed the existing walkways and replaced with new timber finished with an anti-slip surface, and installed a new cross braced timber bridge mounted on existing plastic post foundations.
